A garden is a great way to add to your enjoyment of your home. It enhances the beauty of your home, can be a great family activity and gives you the pleasure of accomplishing something and creating something beautiful.
A garden is a lot of work. It can be intensely personal and great for self expression, as you choose the plants that suit your style, whether they be low maintenance, selected for beauty or are as practical as a vegetable garden.
On this site I'll share my family's progress with our garden while sharing various garden tips and recommending plants and products. It's intended to be a little bit fun.
If you have children, try to encourage them to help you with the garden. They can help out at a very young age if you supervise them. My 1 year old loves using the watering can (obviously there isn't much water in it, but there is some) or the hose. My 4 year old loves to pull weeds and is very interested in the progress of the plants she's helped with since they were seeds. We mostly grow vegetables in containers, as we are renters in a house with a yard that has few areas that can easily be adapted to our purposes. However, there are also a variety of other plants we grow.
