Impatien – Infinity Blushing Lilac
The Impatiens Infinity Blushing Lilac, ‘New Guinea Impatien displays beautiful violet pink flowers with blushes of red. This Proven Winner plant comes from the renowned breeder Ludwig Kientzler. Shade plants are hard to find and New Guenea Impatiens fill that niche with vibrant beauty. The Infinity series has been bred to be grower friendly with well matched vigorous habits and finishing times. They feature what growers demand: Large flowers, dark green to purple foliage, and beautiful colors. They are great for baskets or even gallon pots and landscapes. Impateins are a low maintainence flower but do require frequent waterings. Place in moist but not wet, well-drained soil. Fertilize twice a month in beds, every week in containers. For zone 11, this plant can also be a perennial.

Grass – Big Bluestem
The Grass, ‘Big Bluestem Andropogon gerardii, is a native prairie grass. This grass is also called Turkey feet because the shape of the seed heads look like turkey feet. It is also called beard grass. The name big bluestem grass comes from the fact that this grass can grow to very big, 4 to 7 feet as a matter of fact. It blooms from June through September. In late summer, purplish flower spikes form. The tall and slender stems are blue-green in the summer. The hairy blades, which can get to be 12 inches long and 1/2 inch wide, will get a red tinge on the leaves as they get older, and turn bronze in the fall. Pot it or bed it. Very attractive grass which works well as an accent plant or in mass plantings.

Honeysuckle – Honeyrose
Honeyrose Honeysuckle, Lonicera ‘Honeyrose is a large, summer flowering shrub that has deep, rosy-red flowers and attractive, deep blue-green foliage. The foliage is aphid resistant. An excellent plant because of its abundance of bloom and makes a great hedge, windbreak or screening. Honeyrose is very drought resistant and grows 10 feet in width and height. It has a broad, upright habit, flowers bloom early spring on old growth, and it has small, red fruits that ripen late summer. The foliage is of medium texture. It is very site adaptable and fast growing. It prefers sun to part shade. Honeysuckles are easy to grow, vigorous, heat-tolerant, and nearly indestructible. The flashy and fragrant flowers will attract hummingbirds and butterflies all summer long. Many honeysuckles will thrive in containers as well.

Caladium – White Wings
The Caladium White Wings, ‘Caladium x hortulanum a spring planted tuber, are grown for their long-lasting, colorful foliage and they are used in borders and beds. This narrow pointed leaf variety has white leaves with green edges. It is ideal for pots and hanging baskets on the porch or patio. Caladiums also bloom, but the flowers are insignificant and they drain energy from the plant. They should be pinched off as soon as possible. Caladiums need protection from full sun for the best growth and color. All parts of this tropical plant are poisonous, so caution is advised around children.
