Garden Medley

As for many of you with gardens, this has been a very challenging summer for my garden. It has been unusually hot, even for my area, which is generally pretty warm.

Every day it has either been extremely hot, very humid (for the area) or a bit of both. We were over 100 every day for about three weeks, which is quite unusual. (more…)

My garden is making progress. The containers don’t seem to work well for some of the plants, but others are coping just fine.

The carrots are thriving. They take a long time to get big enough to be worthwhile, so we aren’t picking them yet, but considering the small space, we have a good number of them. The beans are growing adequately, but struggling. The bell peppers and tomatoes are doing well. (more…)

Let me introduce myself. My name is Stephanie, mother of two. We’re renting a home, but that hasn’t kept us from growing a garden. My husband built garden boxes so that we could plant what we want without tearing up the wood chips that cover a large part of the yard. Most of the rest is lawn, which obviously cannot be disturbed.
