Bleeding Heart – Specatabilis

The Bleeding Heart Specatabilis, ‘Dicentra specatabilis, is a fast-growing perennial with pink, heart-shaped flowers. It is the most common variety in its species. The blooms look wonderful against its grayish foliage. Dicentra specatabilis has a plant height of 30 and a width of 20. Dicentra should be planted in full sun but will tolerate morning shade. It is heat tolerant and needs moist soil. Do not let it dry out. Dicentra will bloom from May to September and is a major attractor to butterflies. Specatabilis makes excellent cut flowers, in mass with groundcovers, or in potted containers. Being an old fashioned plant, it is a must in any landscape.

Catgrass

The Grass Cat Oats, ‘Avena sativa is an important part of a cat’s diet. We have chosen the best grass for cats, Oat Grass. It provides nutrients and is a good digestive aid. Plant this grass to keep your cats from eating potentially harmful house plants. It assists cats with furball elimination and provides certain vitamins and mineral to the cat’s diet. Place Oat Grass seed by a window and the window light will supply enough light to get Oat Grass to the 2 to 4 inch height needed for cats to start munching down. Normal household temperature is ideal for germination and plant growth. Place seeds in potting soil to start the growth process. Use a container that is over 6 inches in diameter so the cats will not knock over the container.

Phlox – Hardy Tall – Starburst

The Hardy Tall Phlox Starburst, ‘Phlox paniculata exhibits large flower heads with soft pink flowers that have a delicate greenish edge. It is very unusual and decorative, does best in full sun, and great for a cut flower. The flowers are fragrant and showy, with brilliant non-fading colors. Growing 2-3′ tall, they are excellent for perennial borders, corners and for cut flowers. The foliage is dense and compact with deep green, lance-shaped leaves with prominent veins. Butterflies love them! Plant about 18-20″ apart in rich, well-drained soil in full sun or light shade.

Tomato – Grapette F

The Tomato Grapette F, ‘Lycopersicon lycopersicum Thin-skinned and juicy, with a distinctive flavor and inviting shape. The oblong fruits present themselves in clusters of 16 to 40 and weigh just 1/3 to 1/2 oz each. These small tomatoes are easy picking and even easier eating. Grapette F is ideal for gourmets cooks current preference for smaller, gourmet-type tomatoes. They are also resistant to Fusarium Wilt. Tomatoes should be planted outside after the last average frost date. In warm winter/hot summer areas, tomatoes can be planted in early fall for winter harvest. Tomatoes prefer well drained soil that is high in organic matter. Tomatoes need at least 1 inch of water a week. Soak to depth of 6 to 10 inches when watering. They need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day.
