Canna – The President

The Canna The President, ‘Canna also known as a semi-dwarf Canna or Bengal Tiger, has bright red blooms flowers with dark green foliage. The President is a prolific grower and dwarf in size. It has a plant height of 2-4 and a plant spread of 24-36. The President should be planted in full sun and in a well drained area. Cannas are an excellent choice for patio plants and they add color, height, and texture to any perennial border. The President was voted the Peoples Choice for a semi-dwarf bright red Canna. Coleus – Velvet Lime

The Coleus Velvet Lime, ‘Coleus hybrid has a velvety sheen on burgundy leaves with olive green margins. These new, bigger, sun loving varieties have revolutionized contanier gardening. The brilliant colors explode in sunny locations. Coleus plants are durable and easy to grow. The coleus plants are a tender perennials. Frost will cause them to die immediately. Coleus plants are so colorful that many people keep them and use them as a house plant. These plants will do best in temperatures above 55 degrees. Flower buds should be pinched off as soon as they develop. If a coleus plant is allowed to seed, it has completed its life cycle and will die. Coleus must have good soil drainage. Poorly drained soils and excessive watering will damage coleus. Plants suffering from “wet feet” will be stunted, leaves will turn a muddy brown, and leaf margins will be scorched. For zones 10-11, this plant can also be a perennial.

Petunia – Supertunia Giant Pink

The Petunia Supertunia Giant Pink, ‘Petunia hybrids are brilliant in color and are very low maintenance. The Giant Pink has beautiful pink flowers. Supertunias are a vigorously trailing species of an everblooming, long-living petunia from Australia. They will provide long-term color in full sun areas throughout the season, and can grow nearly an inch a day. They are ideal for baskets, beds, balconies and combination plantings. Supertunias are very heat and drought tolerant once established in the ground or pot. They do not need to have their dead flower heads removed to continue flowering and they are not leggy. Supertunias grow fast and therefore need ample moisture and fertilzer. For zones 9-11, this plant can also be a perennial.
