Impatien – Infinity? Pink
The Impatiens Infinity Pink, ‘New Guinea Impatien displays beautiful pink flowers with a rose eye. This Proven Winner plant comes from the renowned breeder Ludwig Kientzler. Shade plants are hard to find and New Guenea Impatiens fill that niche with vibrant beauty. The Infinity series has been bred to be grower friendly with well matched vigorous habits and finishing times. They feature what growers demand: Large flowers, dark green to purple foliage, and beautiful colors. They are great for baskets or even gallon pots and landscapes. Impateins are a low maintainence flower but do require frequent waterings. Place in moist but not wet, well-drained soil. Fertilize twice a month in beds, every week in containers. For zone 11, this plant can also be a perennial.

Butterfly Bush – Nanho Blue
Nanho Blue Butterfly Bush, Buddleia davidii ‘Nanho Blue is often called the “Summer Lilac”. A rapid growing multi-stem plant, Nanho Blue has large mauve-blue flowers that grow from July-Sept. Tiny individual flowers are produced in profusion in long, dense trusses. It is more compactly leafed than most Butterfly Bush varieties. In northern areas it dies back in winter, so trim to 6-10″ in spring. It is crown hardy in zone 5, a good cut flower, and attracts butterflies. Butterfly bushes prefer full sun and must receive eight or more hours of sun a day to thrive and get the best blooms. Cut faded flowers off of bush regularly to keep it blooming throughout the summer. It is easily maintained at four to six feet in height, and five feet wide, if it is hard-pruned annually. Nanho Blue does not require much watering once it is established.

Chameleon Plant
The Houttuynia Chameleon Plant, Houttuynia cordata, is one of the most popular ground covers around. Small white flowers appear from July to August, but sometimes hard to see because of its foliage. It is an extremely hardy ground cover and easy to grow but can become very invasive. Being similar in shape to English Ivy, it features boldly variegated leaves of red, pink, white, green, and yellow with a plant height of 15. Houttuynia requires light shade and needs a consistently moist soil in a well-drained area. They have a fresh, somewhat citrus-like scent when crushed. Use Houttuynia Chameleons as a ground cover, in rock gardens, with water plants or in scented gardens.
