Oxeye – Loraine Sunshine
The Heliopsis Loraine Sunshine, ‘Heliopsis helianthiodes a Blooms of Bressingham plant, is a great combination of large, golden-yellow flowers and variegated foliage with green veins. Blooming from July till frost, this Heliopsis grows to 30 tall with a plant spread of 30. This easy to grow perennial attracts butterflies and is deer resistant. Loraine Sunshine needs to be grown in full sun, but can tolerate some afternoon shade. It can be planted in average, well-drained soil, but do not allow it to dry out. A wonderful addition to island beds or in the back or borders or as cut flowers. Lantana – Patriot Cowboy
The Patriot Lantana Cowboy, ‘Lantana “Patriot” Cowboy is an annual shrub like plant that will produce beautiful bright-orange flowers with a touch of yellow. Lantana is an excellent choice for beds or containers. The Cowboy Lantana has attractive foliage and the foliage is topped with vividly colored flowers. The brightly colored flowers of Lantana are excellent for attracting hummingbirds and butterflies. Plant Lantanas in full sun and well drained soil in either beds or containers. Lantana prefers moist soil, but is drought tolerant. Pinch off spent flowers to promote new flower growth. All Lantana’s contain a toxin that if ingested may cause stomach discomfort. Some contact with foliage may irritate sensitive skin. The Lantana is also commonly called a Shrub Verbena. All Lantana’s are tough, resilient plants that thrive in hot weather and bloom profusely from spring until frost.

Datura – Angels Trumpet
The Datura Angel’s Trumpet, ‘Datura meteloides has fragrant and showy flowers that open late in the day to enhance the evening garden. If your time only allows you to enjoy an evening garden, then the Datua is the plant. The pale blooms will glow well into the twilight and their scent is heavenly. The flowers are 6 inches long, trumpet-shaped and white in color, tinged with lilac. The flowers last only a day or two, but blooms appear from mid summer to late fall. The Angel’s Trumpet Datura requires full sun and prefers well drained soils. Water regularly, but do not over water. Plant in the spring, 1 to 2 weeks before the last frost. Take advantage of the heavenly fragrance by planting the Datura close to a window. Note: All parts of this plant are poisonous.
