As the Garden Sprouts
My kids love seeing how the garden is growing. They were so excited as the first sprouts appeared:

We also encouraged some of the more temperature-sensitive sprouts to start by growing them indoors. No time or place to set up a proper greenhouse, so we used one of the bedrooms and a space heater to keep it a bit warmer than we would have otherwise. It worked well; we even managed to sprout some bell pepper seeds, which has always been problematic in the past.

My daughter hurried into that room many a morning to see how the seeds were doing, and was very excited when we started transferring sprouts into the ground.
This experience has really gone well with a class she and I have been taking on getting kids a good start in math and science. Hardly a surprise that gardening is a good introduction to biology.
