Garden Medley

Let me introduce myself. My name is Stephanie, mother of two. We’re renting a home, but that hasn’t kept us from growing a garden. My husband built garden boxes so that we could plant what we want without tearing up the wood chips that cover a large part of the yard. Most of the rest is lawn, which obviously cannot be disturbed.

Gardening is a great family activity. My daughter is 4 and loves helping her Daddy. She is fascinated by how things grow. My son is 15 months at this writing, and loves to stare at and babble at the plants. He loves using the watering can or hose too.

Creating and filling the containers with dirt was fun if a bit expensive for a garden. After all, it takes a lot of dirt. But the experience for the kids and the fresh food will be worth it.
